Arts & Health Equity

This committee explores how the arts can illuminate and challenge historical and ongoing inequities in health systems. We study and support the use of the arts in the pursuit of health and healing for all people. Our current project, the Arts & Health Equity Scoping Review, aims to define and clarify the emerging field of Arts and Health Equity, assess its current landscape, and explore its future potential and iterations. Using both standard review methods and innovative, arts and narrative medicine-based approaches, we will summarize and categorize existing work, identify gaps in research and practice, propose directions for future inquiry and engagement, and advocate for the broader adoption of evidence-based, arts-driven health equity initiatives.
